Botox

Botox is a medication that is used to gently relax muscles of the face and improve the look of unwanted facial wrinkles. It is most commonly used to relax frown lines (between the eyebrows), forehead lines, and the “smile lines” around the eyes. “Lifting” of the lateral portion of the eyebrows can be accomplished with Botox, as well as reducing wrinkles on and around the mouth.

Patients with wide or square jaws can also be treated with Botox, to diminish jaw width and create a more feminine jawline.

It can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the hands and underarms as well as certain types of migraines.

Botox works by blocking nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. Small quantities can be used to artistically smooth away wrinkles caused by normal facial expression.

In the hands of an experienced health professional, Botox can yield natural results without changing one’s overall facial expression – essentially softening the lines without changing one’s character.

Botox is injected with very little pain and begins working in 2-7 days. It lasts anywhere from 3-6 months. Maintaining your results every 3-6 months will not only keep the previous wrinkles from returning, but will prevent new ones from forming!

Filler

Dermal fillers are used to reverse the signs of facial aging. There are a variety of different options/brands available, but the most popular type is hyaluronic acid, which is a sugar that is already present in normal skin. Popular brands include Emervel, Juvederm, and Restylane. Other types of fillers include Radiesse and Sculptra.

As we age, facial skin begins to sag, not only because our skin loses its elasticity but also because of volume loss (we start to lose fat from our face!). Fillers are used both to soften facial wrinkles and as a volumizer – hydrating, reshaping and lifting areas of the face that begin to droop. The areas that are often treated include:
-Cheeks
-Nasolabial folds
-Marionette lines
-Chin (augmentation)
-Jawline/Jowls
-Dark circles under the eyes
-Eyebrow lifting
-Earlobes
-Non-surgical nose job
-Lips

Fillers, when injected by an experienced health professional, can deliver natural-looking results that make you look better, not different! The use of numbing creams and the latest injection techniques make the process comfortable, with little swelling and often no downtime.
